Our actions to preserve Mediterranean forests
Mediterranean forests, the lungs of our region, face many challenges: climate change, urbanisation, unsustainable logging, etc.
AIFM is committed to preserving these fragile ecosystems and ensuring their long-term survival. Find out more about our concrete projects to protect and restore Mediterranean forests.
Our areas of expertise
AIFM is working on several fronts to preserve Mediterranean forests:
- Restoring degraded ecosystems: We support reforestation projects, assisted natural regeneration and the restoration of natural habitats.
- Fighting forest fires: We are developing tools to prevent and manage forest fires, as well as awareness-raising programmes for local communities.
- Protecting biodiversity: We implement actions to protect endangered species and their habitats, in particular species endemic to Mediterranean forests.
- Improving scientific knowledge: We support scientific research to better understand how forest ecosystems function and develop appropriate management tools.
