About the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week

Mediterranean forests play a crucial role in the region’s environmental, social and economic fabric. Despite an increase in forest cover due to land use changes, challenges such as land degradation, wildfires, and climate change persist.

Focusing on the theme “Working together for sustainable and resilient Mediterranean forests,” the 8MFW aims to develop a collaborative roadmap for the sustainable management and restoration of Mediterranean forest ecosystems. For this, it will delve into solutions for these issues through interactive sessions, expert discussions, and collaborative initiatives.

The 8MFW aims to highlight regional efforts that align with global commitments like the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and the Convention on Biological Diversity. The event will also showcase successful landscape restoration projects and promote integrated forest management practices.
