FAO and UNEP published the State of the World’s Forests 2020
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have published the 2020 edition of “The State of the World’s Forests: Forests, biodiversity and people” on the occasion of International Day for Biological Biodiversity. With the end, in 2020, of the United Nations Decade for Biodiversity and of the implementation of the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biological Diversity, this report focuses on biodiversity in forests. Globally, forests contain more than 60,000 different tree species and provide habitat for 80 percent of amphibian species, 75 percent of bird species and 68 percent of mammal species.
