Unasylva magazine #252 has just been published
The new edition of FAO’s international forestry journal, Unasylva, entitled “Restoring the Earth – The Next Decade”, was released on 28 October 2020. It highlights the significant progress that has been made in forest and landscape restoration over the past decade.
To date, 63 countries and other entities have committed to restoring 173 million hectares, an area half the size of India, and regional responses such as the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) and the 20×20 Initiative in Latin America are making significant progress.
However, the publication warns that much more needs to be done nationally, regionally, and globally to meet the commitments made in the Bonn Challenge to restore 350 million hectares of degraded and deforested land by 2030, and other international commitments.
