Launch of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

On occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated every year since 1974 on June 5, the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration was officially launched!

This 2021-2030 Decade aims to fight against the current environmental emergencies: the loss of biodiversity, climate change and increasing pollution.

To achieve this, governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals will join forces to bring about an unprecedented, large-scale restoration of the world’s ecosystems.

It is a global call that will rally political, scientific, and financial support to increase restoration capacity tenfold.

This restoration can also bring about a transformation that will contribute to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) designated by the United Nations in 2015, to be achieved by 2030.
